I've added a page for records on points scored in a game by teams to put some perspective on the 2016 season-opening parade to the end zone Manatee High of Bradenton was part of.
The Hurricanes put up 56 points but came up on the short end of a 78-56 loss at Hewitt-Trussville of Alabama. The host Huskies racked up 634 yards of total offense. Manatee had 600. Even the referees went up and down the field, walking off 21 penalties for 213 yards.
Manatee's point production is the fifth highest point total for a losing team in the history of Florida high school football according to my charts. But it's a long way from the top spot on that list.
in 2013, Jacksonville Bishop Kenny lost 74-73 to Clay in a Class 5A region semifinal shootout that shattered a bunch of records.
